What type of car or family vehicle do you expect you will be driving in five years’ time, around 2013?
An online survey conducted by UMR Research has discovered that over a quarter (28 per cent) of people believe they will be driving a hybrid car in five years’ time, and an overwhelming majority (76 per cent) believe that the Federal Government should place lower taxes on fuel efficient cars than on other vehicles.

The survey, which was conducted online from 20 to 25 June 2008, consulted a nationally representative sample of 1,000 Australian adults.

Bruce Dier, General Manager of UMR, said, “These findings suggest that we will see a marked increase in sales of hybrid cars over the next few years. Over a quarter of Australian motorists see themselves driving some sort of hybrid in five years time, which represents a massive market opportunity for the manufacturers of this type of vehicles.”

Interestingly, another 8% expected to be driving a solar, "nitrogen" (perhaps they mean hydrogen? -Ed.) or electric car.
